Addiction to cocaine, heroin and other drugs can lead to health problems in a person that can even be fatal. These substances can also cause very acute health problems. There are substances like tobacco which rarely, if ever, can lead to any acute health problem unless the person has been using the substance for many years.
The common health problems that are seen in a person because of the addiction includes damage to the blood vessels, damage to the nerves and other problems. There are also various diseases that can be seen in a person who is affected. Damage to organs like kidneys, liver and various other parts can also be seen. The liver is the part of the body that is damaged to the maximum extent because it is the organ that is involved in the metabolism of the various things that are consumed. So, when the toxic chemicals that are present in the drugs reach the liver, then it can cause a lot of problems in the liver.
