Drugs can be divided into two categories. One of the types of drugs are those that are used by the physicians in the treatment of patients. The other kinds of drugs are those that are used by the drug addicts. There is only a thin line of difference between the two kinds of drugs. This is because the medications that are used in the treatment of diseases can also be addictive at times and there are many people who are dependent on these drugs and seem to be addicted to them.
On the other hand, some of the drugs that are used by drug addicts are used medically in the treatment of some diseases. Though these can be addictive in nature, the doses are controlled by the physicians and the person is able to overcome the problems related to addiction.
Since there is only a thin line of difference between the medically used drugs and the drugs that are used by addicts, the people who use the various drugs need to be very careful when taking various prescription drugs and non prescription, over the counter drugs. These drugs can lead to various side effects and other health problems.
The side effects of drugs are many in number. One of the main side effects is that it can be addictive in nature. When the addictive nature of the drugs is seen in people, it can lead to the person becoming dependent on the drug. The drugs can also cause damage to the liver. The liver is the main organ that is involved in the metabolism of the body. As the metabolism becomes affected, the person finds it very difficult to get over the drug and its side effects. Many of those who suffer from liver problems can even die.
Some drugs that are used in the treatment of diseases can also affect the kidneys. This is mainly true about the pain medications that can even lead to kidney failure. Many people who use pain medications on a regular basis finally end up for dialysis which can be a painful process itself.
