Exercising is good for health. But it can become an addiction. Just like how addicts take to alcohol and drugs to keep their mind away from saddening thoughts, an exercise addict keeps exercising at every given opportunity.What are the disadvantages associated with it? Does it not make the body stronger?
Actually exercising is good only if done moderately. Spending hours and hours at the gym is detrimental for muscle development. It fatigues the body and puts unduly stress on the heart.
Over exercising can also call the person emotional turmoil, and a lack of physical inclination to other forms of activity. This is because most of the emotional energy is spent on the exercise more than the physical energy. Any activity involves an emotional energy component.
Exercise addiction is not recognized by many people as addiction. They tend to put it into a psychological disorder category. Over exercising is seen as making up for something that one feels inadequate about, and overdoing it. It is also considered as a form of obsessive compulsive behavior.
How to get out of exercise addiction?
Many people with exercise addiction spend too much time at the gym. A good way to get out of the gym for some days is to play some other sport.
People with exercise addiction should not view their bodies in the mirror. Because this may trigger desperation and make the exercise addict to get back to exercise addiction. Even if all these methods fail, the best thing would be to speak to a doctor.
